A friend of mine, Shelly, suggested that I try a different type of air purifier because one of her kids, Savannah who’s eight, suffers from acute asthma and they had heard about and purchased an SP-20C air purifiers for Sun-pure.

Being sceptical and very analytical, I did my homework on the Company and the unit that Shelly and her family bought.

I was impressed.

I purchased one of the units and from the moment I unpacked it, I knew that this was a quality machine. When I took the machine out and read the instructions, I noticed how well-built the unit was.

Being who I am, I took the units cover off and tried to plug it in to see how it worked… It didn’t! (read instructions again!)

When I read the instructions closely, I was impressed that the cover had safety switches built in s that the unit will not operate with the cover off!

My many years as chair of pant safety committees came back to me and I thought… “Now that’s forward thinking… putting safety first!

I hooked up the unit and set it up in my bedroom. The first thing I noticed when the unit was running was that I didn’t notice it! It was super-quiet and made very little noise.

As well, the SP-20C also has a series of electronic service light that let me know when to change filters etc. That’s nice I thought; no more guessing and buying un-necessary replacement when I don’t need to! I learned that I only had to replace the UV lamps once per year and the HEPA filter once every two years.

That night, I had the first of many and one of the most restful sleeps that I have and in many years. I woke up un-stuffed, full of energy and ready to face a new day.

Since I have owned the Sun-Pure SP-20C air purifier, it has become my silent and benevolent friend.

The unit has been trouble-free and the filters and UV lamps are really easy to replace.

I thank Shelly every time I see her for recommending this Unit to me.

The trouble is, that in the relatively closed space of my shop which is about 500 sq. ft., those pistons create carbon monoxide and the restoration process uses oils, degreasers, gases from cleaners and transmission fluids. Also, and it depends on the car, I can have fiberglass fibers and resins in the air.

I had worn a mask for years but I also now wear glasses so they fog up quickly and now it has become unsafe for me to work.

I used a Sun-Pure SP-20C in my house so naturally I went with the 6-stage SP-20 for my shop.

The key feature that works for me is the six stage filtration and cleaning system which starts with the large particle filter to take out the metal dust, and fiberglass cloth, large paint dust and airborne rust.

The second stage is the meat and potatoes for me as this section takes out all of the harmful gasses and fumes. The 3rd stage takes out low level zone that I get from my welding equipment and battery arcing. The 4th stage removes mould spores, mildew smells that can hide in old upholstery and carpets while the 5th stage gets rid f all of the bacteria in the air.

The last stage helps keep my shop smelling nice enough for my wife to join in on my hobby as it always smells clean and fresh with a small amount of negative ions.

What is great about this machine is that it produces zero ozone is bad for me and bad for the environment.

The reversed curved propeller with double ball bearings are a mechanics dream and are made to last. You can’t even hear the unit as I play “golden oldies” while I work on my passion!

The part that has me telling my fellow car enthusiasts about is the advanced processor in the computerized control system. This allows me to set the unit for the mode of cleaning I want and adjust the room size sensor t accommodate my shop. Heck, it even senses when I am in the room like it knows that I am going to work so it cranks up the cleaning mode automatically!

Since I have begun using the SP-20 over 8 months ago, it has been a pleasure working on my hobby knowing that I may just live long enough to enjoy the cars I build.

I highly recommend this unit for all car enthusiasts.
